Wee-Cycling by Corinne

the violin

A few days ago, I was in the kitchen working on dinner and Corinne was with me as usual. She's always my kitchen side-kick.

Anyhow...she's busy at one end of the counter and I asked her what she was doing. She told me she's playing her "recycle-drum." This consists of an old water bottle and a big straw from Panera. I would like to claim responsibility for teaching her how to care for God's earth, but I think we have PBS shows to thank for this one.

Next she shows me her "recycle-violin" and her "recycle-trumpet." Very creative, very cute...and then I followed up with the lesson. "Recycling is a great way to take care of God's beautiful earth." Now I can take credit right?!? hehehe. :)

The Cutest Hitler I've Ever Seen

So our sweet girl has a mop on top and not much on the sides. Over Easter several of my family members told us (with great love in their hearts, of course) that Riley's hair reminded them of Adolf Hitler's. Unfortunately, I can't completely deny that they have a point, and I fought off her uncles with sharpees all weekend.

I am now 100% committed to the hair bow on this baby girl, but even if her hair does look a little similar to the world's most hated man you have to admit, she's still a cutie!

A Dose of God's Reality

So I'm doing my Bible reading today in Job and I come across something that has never crossed my mind before.

Job 35:4-8 NIV
"If you sin, how does that affect Him?
If your sins are many, what does that do to Him?
If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, or what does He receive from your hand?
Your wickedness affects only a man like yourself,
and your righteousness only the the sons of men. "

The Message says it like this,
"If you sin, what difference could that make to God?
No matter how much you sin, will it matter to him?
Even if you're good, what would God get out of that?
Do you think he's dependent on your accomplishments?
The only ones who care whether you're good or bad
are your family and friends and neighbors.
God's not dependent on your behavior."

So many times I like to think that when I obey God when something is hard for me, how proud He must be or how I am doing Him a favor. How arrogant is that?!? God exists for His own Glory, and it's my job to reflect it back upon Him. It makes me feel good when I obey, but my small handful of good deeds doesn't add anything to His Holiness. He is amazing, wonderful and complete, and nothing I do, good or bad can add to or take anything away from Him.

Talk about being put in your place...thanks for the reality check God. :)

Characterized by Poop

Have you ever had one of those days when your mood is solely based on the amount of feces you have encountered in one day?

Well...that's today for me. Corinne usually has one BM a day. Today is an extraordinary day. Case in point; we have had 3 BM's and since we are potty training they have all been in her panties instead of the potty. (and yes...she did them on purpose in her sweet little drawers.)

Then there's our little darling Riley Jo...we've generally past the blow-out stage of babyhood, but today she's revisiting it. We've destroyed two outfits already and that was all before 1:00.

I'm trying to take it in stride, but SERIOUSLY!!! Could we stop with the pooping today girls?!?!
